The Melt

Happy to announce that we have both passed the knowledge test and will have our Alaskan licenses in 2 to 3 weeks. We also switched our vehicle registration and have Alaskan plates. Super excited to have that taken care of.

Getting the front plate set

The snow has really started to melt now. But instead of just seeping into the ground it puddles. There is still a layer of frost that doesn’t let for the melt to seep. So now we have a river through our driveway. And it isn’t just at our place it is everywhere. Water puddles everywhere. So much water. But now we can see most of the cabin and the area around it.

Water front property

At the end of the week, we experienced rain up here for the first time. The rain is different than up here. It doesn’t rain as heavily or as long. As you drive it can be raining and you see the line of rain coming from the clouds and then you aren’t in the rain anymore. The rain had a different smell when it is finished. A very fresh smell. The rain is nice except it makes the puddles so much larger.

Moose

As everything warms up, the animals are coming out a lot more. It is fairly normal that see moose right along side the road. It is still really strange to see the moose on the roadside. They are so big. Slightly terrifying to be driving down the road and see them right there. Very difficult to not want to freak out while driving.

Grilling Sunday Lunch

On the weekends we have been enjoying the routine of grocery shopping and hanging out with friends in the evenings. We tried a Mexican restaurant that wasn’t very good. But had good company so that made it better. We always have an amazing time hanging out with friends. And then on Sunday we enjoy cooking lunch together and relaxing for the rest of the day.

This past week has been one of a lot of snow melt. Just for the chance of snow this week. We shall see what this week holds and if we go on any new adventures. Love the Kreiders.
