Today was the first day of traveling. Started bright and early. Family came to see us off, we had final hugs, prayers and words of encouragement before we left. We drove out of our little development shortly after 6:30.

    Ready to Roll

Leaving went without a hitch. No problems with the weather or the truck. We were doing really well. Until we State College area, then it started to flurry. Then the flurries turned to ice. The new winter tires were tested and we had no issues.

    Beautiful Snow

We fueled up before crossing over into Ohio. Before pulling out of the gas station we gathered our sandwich making items from the back sheet. As we crossed the state line, Benjamin said “See you at Christmas PA.” As we kept driving, I made us some PB & J sandwiches. Super thankful for Miss Alicia having trays from Makaylas bridal shower. Makes for the perfect sandwich making station.

Ohio had the same scenery at PA. At one point Benjamin was like are you sure we even left Lancaster County. Truly felt like we were still in PA with how many farm fields we saw. We crossed into Indiana around 4:40. Two states down, five states to go!

One of the very first bill boards we saw when we crossed was for weed. So many different ones and they were pretty clever play on words. We passed a RV and Motor Home Hall of Fame. Didn’t know that existed. At some point in Indiana, we crossed the time zone line. We look at the clock and it was 6:03 and then all of a sudden it was 5:03. We are now officially qn hour behind PA. At a service plaza, we stopped for some dinner and then kept driving.

After driving for an 1 1/2 we started crossing the Chicago Skyline Toll Bridge. We were another state down. The sign for the bridge was the old neon signs. Was really cool. Chicago, I don’t need to drive through it again. The traffic is awful, people cutting in front of you and weaving in and out. Talk about anxiety inducing when you have a trailer. Finally we got through Chicago and saw a beautiful sunset as we left.

    Chicago Sunset

A little after 8, we got to our hotel. Once our heads hit the pillows we were out. It was a long day of travel. Started in Lancaster, PA and ended in Loves Park, IL. In total we drove 752 miles and went through 3 states.

  • The Kreiders

Welcome friends to the Kreider Khronicles. Where we, well me, will document the adventures we take as a family. For those you don’t know who we are, we are Benjamin and Kati Kreider.

    Meet the Kreiders

Who are the Kreiders? Well we are a young married couple currently living in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. In the fall we will be celebrating three years of marriage but this year we won’t be in Lancaster to celebrate. Tomorrow we will begin our trek across the United States, through Canada to end at our new home in North Pole, Alaska. Yes, you read that right we will be living in the North Pole. We can pass along your children’s Christmas list to Santa. You now have front row seats to see our adventure to the North Pole and our life there.
